The NEW Skarloey Bachmann HO Scale Narrow Gauge (runs on N gauge track) has arrived finally! We just got this December 21, 2015. More videos coming with more details. We hope to get the box vans and open wagon as well. The retail prices are a bit ridiculous. Skarloey is $150 and the cars are $50 each! We found Skarloey on Amazon for $100
Found this for a pretty good deal on eBay. Has an F7A & B Locomotive with 3 box cars and 6 passenger cars. Not sure why Spider-Man is hauling around is arch-enemies?
Found 2 more gondolas I previously did not know about. Realizing that there is more Bachmann stuff out there than I got from a list. Also found a YouTuber that found the Gordon Express Set:
So Thomas has won this round of the Great Race and is champion – for now. I honestly thing both Gordon and Henry are the real fastest. I did not realize it until later but the transformers made by Bachmann are acting very inconsistent. Sometimes the engines would not even move! I am going to make a more reliable and fair course. But who wouldn’t be happy that Thomas won!
I did not address it in the video, but we have run into a problem electrically with the Great Race. Gordon and Thomas will be the final 2, but in reality, Henry should have beat Thomas. After experimenting a bit after the race, I found that I had a defective outlet on my power strip. This in turn affected the transformers. So now some do not perform the same even when moved to a good outlet. In fact, at one point it would not even move a locomotive and then would shut off – like there is some kind of short. I did another test and Henry blew past Thomas, but if I switched it, I could get Thomas to beat Henry. The first several races were fine – it only start in Round 3.
I do not think I will address this on YouTube because it might bore the kids. But if anybody thinks I should please let me know. Thanks.
Picked up this very nice Flying Sctosman Train set on eBay. Everything looks nice and operates well with one exception – the Hornby passenger cars do not work on Atlas track at the switch machine frogs. I do not think they were designed for that. The wheel flanges are apparently deeper than on other models. It looks so nice though. I will see if a can find away to fix it without having to switch to Hornby track.
Got another Chuggington Bachmann HO Scale set. They did not make very many Chuggington train sets. We only need a couple of more to have them all. I wish they made an Emery set or more than just the one passenger car (which is one of the two we do not have). These Bachmann locomotives are faster than the THomas & Friends Engines. They are very simple and seem to be able to withstand play from children a little better than traditional model trains. Not a lot of small parts to break off. Enjoyed adding these to the collection!
I will be honest. When I start to do a video like this I usually have no idea what direction I will take. The only thing I knew was that I was going to show the Brake Van and Coal Wagon that we got from Amazon. In setting things up I needed a couple of locomotives – Thomas was an easy choice and since the Hornby Percy was already there we used it. Then I thought to get Stepney. (All the other locomotives are still waiting for the start of The Great Race).
Ended up using the tank cars since they were already on the track. I think somebody on YouTube thought I was calling Thomas “Thomas the Tank Train” before but I didn’t – he was pulling a tank train. Anyway, this is what we ended up with. Maybe one day I will use a script.
